The Clockwork Door

Live Music for Toddlers in a groovy Dublin City Centre TimeHouse on a Thursday Afternoon…

Has Rainbow Phil discovered his ultimate niche?!

About two months ago, I posted on my Facebook Page about the possibility of me doing afternoon interactive live children’s music sessions in a City Centre venue, which offers FREE tea, coffee and biscuits…

The post received over TWENTY reactions and more than a HANDFUL of comments, which for my page, is practically going viral! I guess you guys really like the idea of free biscuits…

So I went ahead and arranged a meeting and we all agreed that this could be something exciting to explore…. Then the Summer came and got in the way… Then school started again, which meant I had to look after my son in the afternoons… THEN AFTERSCHOOL ACTIVITIES CAME ALONG TO SAVE THE DAY!!!

So thanks to The After School Chess Club I am please to announce…

But what is The Clockwork Door?!

The Clockwork Door is the most homely place you’ll find in the Temple Bar! They are Ireland’s unique Time House – a pay-as-you-go venue where you can enjoy unlimited tea, coffee, biscuits, popcorn and Wi-Fi and only pay for the time you spend there. They are a strictly non-alcoholic venue but you are welcome to bring in your own food (they have a kitchen) or get a take-away – pizza, Japanese food, Italian food, you name it! They will happily recommend a good spot for a take-away in Dublin centre.

The combination of this relaxed, comfy setting, plenty of space, unlimited tea, coffee and biscuits and having the little ones kept engaged by the music of Rainbow Phil sounds like the perfect sanctuary for parents wanting to hang out for an hour or so in Dublin City Centre…

It sounds great, so what’s the deal?

So if you want to come and see Rainbow Phil at The Clockwork Door then here’s what you need to know. The cost to be inside the Clockwork Door is 8c per minute (works out at €4.80 per hour) and the cost to join in with the music is €5 – This means that you could pop into town, have a cup of tea and a biscuit, sing some songs and jump around with Rainbow Phil, all for just under a tenner! Of course, you will all be welcome to stay before and after the music for just 8c per minute with all the tea you can drink!

There is no need to book a place, just turn up, sing along, do the Hokey Cokey and catch up with your friends. At the moment we will just be running it for the four Thursdays in October, but if the demand is there then we can look at continuing it on till Christmas.

I can’t wait! Is there anyway I can help spread the word, so there will be a nice fun crowd on the day?

There certainly is! The best way you can help is by visiting the Facebook Event Page and clicking either of these buttons…

Preferably the one on the right, but it’s up to you! Also, inviting your friends will help massively…

And of course, sharing this blog post and the event page itself, will help as well.

It’s always daunting for me (read: mildly terrifying) to start new ventures in new places, but this one is particularly daunting since I’m stepping outside of my usual northside stomping ground and venturing in to afternoon territory. Needless to say, I’ll probably be having my recurring ’empty room’ dream all this week!

I’ve read this far, does that mean a get a Frank Zappa quote?

It most certainly does! As with all very long Rainbow Phil posts, if you read all the way to the end then you are rewarded with a Frank Zappa quote, and on this occasion, this one seems most appropriate!

“Without deviation from the norm, progress is not possible.”
