Basic Info

Rainbow Phil now has after-school music classes for Junior and Senior infant aged kids. Moving on from the sing along format you may be familiar with, these classes focus on learning core musical concepts, as outlined below. Think, less “Wheels on the Bus”, instead more challenging and engaging activities! Places are limited to ideally 8 kids per class (10 at absolute max!) so that we can remain focused and stay on task!

Do Parents attend too?

The classes which take place in the schools are open to both pupils of the school and members of the public. I am Garda Vetted for the schools, which means parents/caregivers don’t need to accompany their children, however, I’m do not have Garda vetting for Clongriffin Junction so all children must be accompanied by parent/caregiver at all times when attending in Clongriffin Junction.

Additional needs?

Classes are devised for 3-6 year olds and children of all abilities are very welcome to attend. Children with particular additional needs attending classes in the school setting, should be accompanied by a parent/caregiver for at least their first class, after which we can discuss their needs together and how things will work moving forwards.

Mondays at 15:10 – Pelletstown Educate Together National School (Neurodivergent Friendly Class)

Tuesdays at 15:30 – Clongriffin Junction (3-6yr olds, all abilities welcome)

Course Content

These classes last an hour and take place in small groups in order to keep things focused. Kids can expect plenty of hands on time with a variety of drums and percussion instruments, as well as songs both familiar and new.

Some of the musical concepts we will be exploring include;

• Beat/pulse
• Tempo (fast/slow)
• Dynamics (loud/soft)
• Recognising and singing the major scale (particularly the first five notes)
• Developing singing skills
• Developing listening skills
• Playing together collaboratively (drum ensemble work)
• Sonic exploration

Cost

Booking for these classes is essential and is done on a half term basis (usually per 5 weeks), if you would like to join us part way through the term, just drop me a message. If there is space available then you’ll only pay the weeks you’ll attend. It works out as follows;

• Clongriffin Junction – €15 per week
• Schools – €15 per week

For siblings, just set the quantity to 2 before tapping the add to basket/buy now button.

I do have a cheaper and more flexible pay as you go sessions on Wednesday afternoons in Drumcondra at 3:30pm – however, these Wednesday afternoons are the same material as my morning baby/toddler groups – mostly singing and puppets etc. They are loads of fun and open to all ages (0-6) – all children MUST be accompanied by an adult caregiver. Mondays at 14:10 – Pelletstown ETNS

Unless they are joining us from after-school, children should be brought to the main entrance of the school. Please be punctual as I will not be able to leave the classroom to pick up late comers! Once inside the school, classes will take place in Room 4, otherwise known as Aoife’s Room

Class finishes at 15:10 and I bring the children back to the main entrance to be collected.

PAYG all ages afternoon classes

If you’re looking for something less formal, more along the lines of what I do in the mornings, but in the afternoons, then look no further because you’ve struck gold!!
