“In 2013, a cracking musician arrived in Ireland for reasons I won’t go into here. This man promptly escaped from his damp basement flat in Clontarf to the North Dublin playgroup scene. Today, still wanted by children and grown ups alike, he survives as a Children’s Musician and Entertainer. If you have a toddler, if no one else can sing at them, and if you can find him… Maybe you can sing with Rainbow Phil”

I’ve been singing at children under the name Rainbow Phil since around 2016 and it has been quite a journey!
Before moving to Dublin I had graduated from the Popular Music & Recording degree course at the University of Salford and was trying to ‘make it’ with the band I was playing in while working a regular day job. Then along came a baby, a year later my wife was offered a new job in Dublin, we relocated, I became a full time Dad and somehow along the way I also became Rainbow Phil!
During the ‘Before Times’ I would spend my weekday mornings travelling around North Dublin to sing at playgroups, play cafes and play centres, some days I would make up to three appearances in one morning!

Before lockdown came I was planning to do “Rainbow Phil’s Paddy’s Day Special” in the Red Stables but of course that all had to be cancelled. Instead I ended up doing 100 days of Facebook Live shows and getting a certificate in the post from the Lord Mayor of Dublin saying that I was a Covid Hero!
