On Friday 25th October, I dropped the bombshell that Rainbow Phil will be leaving Ireland by posting the below video to my social media channels.
On this post I will explain as simply as possible what this means for you and your children over the next few months. Remember, I haven’t gone yet and it’s now more important than ever to support your local Rainbow Phil!

The Video
If you don’t have a spare 8mins to listen to me ramble on.. Here are the main points of the video
- I will be leaving Ireland in probably March of 2025
- My family and I are relocating to Japan, following my wife’s career.
- She left and started work there in September
- This means I’m now solo parenting, running the household, running my business, managing the sale of the house and other relocation type stuff pretty much single handed
- Because of this I need to streamline my work as Rainbow Phil, so I don’t run myself into the ground!
Streamlined schedule
From November, I will reduce my morning schedule to just three mornings per week as follows;
Mondays 10am – Ierne Sports and Social Club, Grace Park Road, Drumcondra
Wednesdays 10am – Portmarnock Sports and Leisure Centre
Fridays 10am – St Gabriel’s Parish Centre, Clontarf
Morning classes can be booked in advance by clicking here or you can simply turn up and pay by cash or card in person!
If you’re reading this before the first week in November, then you can get ONE CLASS FREE by selecting all five available dates on the online booking form. But you need to be quick, once there’s only 4 weeks left, the offer will be gone!
Afternoons
My Pre-Instrumental Music Classes will continue in the afternoons. However, the mixed ages PAYG group in Drumcondra on Wednesday afternoons has now come to an end.
My afternoon classes now look like this;
Mondays 14:10 – Pelletstown Educate Together National School, Junior and Senior Infants class (FULLY BOOKED)
Mondays 14:10 – Pelletstown Educate Together National School, Neurodivergent friendly class
Tuesdays 13:30 – North Bay Educate Together National School, Junior and Senior Infants class (FULLY BOOKED)
Tuesdays 15:30 – Clongriffin Junction, Junior and Senior Infants class

December
In mid December, my son has to attend an interview for the school that he will be attending in Japan.
We will fly out on Saturday 7th December, stay for Christmas and then fly back to Dublin on 31st December.
The schedule outlined above will remain in place up to and including Friday 6th December, which will be the last Rainbow Phil activity of 2024
Christmas Special 2024
On Saturday 30th November and Sunday 1st December I will be hosting “Rainbow Phil’s Christmas Special” in The Red Stables, St Anne’s Park
Tickets are available for this now by clicking here – but don’t leave it to the last minute as they are already going surprisingly fast!!
January 2025 onwards
Rainbow Phil activities (both mornings and afternoons as outlined above), will resume from Monday 6th January 2025.
My intention is to keep Rainbow Phil going as much as possible right up until the big move! There is no date set in stone as of yet, but the school term in Japan starts in April, so most likely I will be leaving mid-March. However, nothing is ever straight forward with these things, so this may be subject to change!
Final Seasonal Special
I’m planning to do one final show in The Red Stables over the St Brigid’s Day Weekend (1st, 2nd and 3rd Feb).
I can’t say exactly what it is, but I can say that it is a musical puppet show adaptation of the story of the daughter of a fictional character who ventures out into the cold snowy forest, looking for what she thinks is an oversized rodent. The rodent who had previously had an encounter with her father. If you know, you know!
